Trigger Point Therapy

Man holding upper shoulderTrigger points are knots formed when muscles do not relax. These points most commonly occur in the upper back and shoulder areas.

How It Works

Trigger point injections are similar to acupuncture and massage. Small needles go into the area of muscles surrounding the spine that are tight and bound up. This method will help to relax your muscles.

Your chiropractic adjustments will then be easier and more effective. You’ll have better mobility while we retrain muscles in our corrective care model.

Numbing Agents

The medication in trigger point injections consist of a numbing agent, mainly Lidocaine, a short acting medication. A longer acting numbing agent, Marcaine, can and will be used if necessary for the patient’s treatment.

By using trigger point injections, you’ll receive effective relief from the pain, swelling and inflammation caused by many health conditions.

Who Can Benefit?

A trigger point injection (TPI) will effectively deactivate the trigger point and alleviate pain. This therapy can be effective in treating:

  • Neck and back pain
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Shoulder pain
  • Tennis elbow
  • Tension headaches
  • TMJ
